Venetian Pink

I have recently returned from a perfect long weekend in Venice, and got all inspired by it. I know its a cliche, but the the light reflecting on the water gave the whole city an other worldliness that allowed you to properly escape from real life. And I always thought Canaletto was using his artistic licence.
One of the most striking features of Venetian vistas was how the city was dominated by the colour pink: It seemed as if it was everywhere: on the buildings, the bridges, even the streetlamps. In the hands of other towns this preponderance for pink might look effete, but in Venice it was just right.
My favourite part of the trip was the happy morning spent pottering around the Rialto fishmarket in search of lunch. Brixton fish will never taste the same.
